Finding seaglass on the shores, watching the changing hues of the lake and experiencing the beautiful sunsets make us want to return yearly. Old Women Estuary, near Huron, Ohio is a very special place with free fun educational programs for adults and children. Sharlene N. - Mansfield, OH

I just want to comment about the wonderful trip our family of five completed this week to Ohio. Coming from western Maryland it took only two tanks of gas round-trip. We left Monday and arrived at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame mid-afternoon. In less than an hour we got to Sandusky. Tuesday was spent at Cedar Point and we left for home Wednesday. We ended up calling it our 72 hour vacation and it turned out to be better than expected. I will recommend this 72 hr mini-vacation to my co-workers upon returning to work. Being on the East Coast we do not hear about what Lake Erie has to offer, it really is a gem. Get the word out. J. C. , Western MD

Vacations in the waters and shores of Lake Erie: lighthouses, picnics and fires on the beach; collecting glass pieces and shells; and knee deep water for yards make it a haven for families with young kids. Have made it a vacation destination for years with my own kids, and now, they do with theirs. The waters of Lake Erie just get into your blood and you are forever one with the lake. N. L. , Central KY

A couple of days ago I went to Lake Erie in Ohio and Pennsylvania. In both places I found rolled glass on the beach. The lake water felt real good. It looks like Lake Erie drops off way out there by Canada. I found little sea shells on the rocks and they feel hard when you step on them (he experienced zebra mussels). And, that is my story. Michael M. - Monongahela, PA

I love traveling to the lake. We try our best to go to Lakeside every year. We will be there again this year with our grandchildrenin early Aug. They love the freedom, ice cream stops, walking on the dock, riding bikes, shopping, watching the evening entertainment, singing at the God Squad house, making crafts, family night and more. We rent a golf cart for the week and they are so excited. Last year they had light up Lakeside on our last Friday night. Peggy K. - Warsaw, OH

Had a ball during our visit! The museums, restaurants, just walking around was fun! Parks were beautiful, we even rode the carousel. Charlene S. - Lorain, OH

I used to vacation in the Marblehead/Port Clinton area every year as a child, and I am now SO excited to be planning a vacation with my husband and young son to the area!!! Lynne P. ,

I was born & raised on Kelleys Island, OH. What a wonderful childhood I had. My dad was the mayor, and we had a boat and plane. We went swimming and waterskiing every day!!! I think of Kelleys with many happy memories! Toni K. - Sandusky, OH

I try to take the family up each year, just a great place with lots to do. For a small vacation or a large one, this is the place to go. They have great wines too!!! Charles S. - Nashport, OH

The most spectacular time for a vacation. The islands are beautiful and well worth the visit. I plan on taking my children there this summer. I wished it did not rain so much when I was there, kinda takes the fun away, regardless the views are breath taking. Jody B. - Urbana, OH

Lake Erie is the "special place" of my granddaugher and me. We love it. Have gone to Put-in-Bay and done parasailing and jet skiing. We go just to take pictures, all year-round. It will always hold special memories for both of us. Gloria D. - Poland, OH

My husband and I went to Put-In-Bay last June and had a great time. The weather was perfect and the ride on the Jet Express relaxing. We are looking to come back again this year and maybe explore some of the other islands. Rhonda P. - Sunbury, OH

After completing high school and then working and getting spending money, I found the perfect, exciting entertainment. That was taking the Bob-Lo boat to Put-in-Bay. The boat had music, dances and snacks. And then spending the day at Put-in-Bay, playing games and swimming. It was such a treat. Irene Z. - Hazel Park, MI

A special memory I cherish is the way I feel when we drive onto the deck of the ferry boat to get to one of the wonderful islands. I know that every worry or trouble is literally left on the mainland for the entire week we stay. Anita D. - West Harrison, IN

Some of the most perfect water and weather for sailing around the Islands! Nancy S. - Strongville, OH

The Jet Express was just awesome. The winery was so refreshing on a 90-degree day on Put-in-Bay. The scenery was so relaxing. Very nice getaway. Lynn R. - Greenfield, OH

I am a former Clevelander. I visit friends every year in North Ridgeville. We went a few weeks ago to Put-in-Bay, and we had a great time even though it rained for 2 hrs. The island is beautiful. I get sick of palm trees as I now live in Florida. Ohio is a beautiful state, especially the island area. GO BUCKEYES! Bonnie C. - Pembroke Pines, FL

We went to Put-in-Bay for our anniversary, rented a golf cart and cruised around the island all day, and then listened to the live bands. Everyone was so nice. We had a great time and can't wait to go back. Kelly P. - Columbus, OH

My husband, nephew, and I went to Put-in-Bay. The ferry boat ride to and from the island was wonderful. We didn't take our car but there was a bus waiting as we arrived to take us into town. The island was beautiful! So much to see and do! There were lots of gift shops and restaurants. The walleye fresh fish was delicious. We definitely recommend everyone go and experience the island!!!!! Glenna E. - Lebanon, OH

By far, the best beach in the area is the Old Woman Creek Beach. It is not for swimming, but the scenery and landscape is the most refreshing and relaxing of any around. The best rocks and beach glass ever! Rene F. - Huron, OH

Dad teaching me how to skip stones at Catawba Island State Park. Riding over the old bay bridge in the station wagon with our feet sticking out of the (way)back window and loosing a flipflop. Cedar Villa Pizza Maryellen O. - Seminole, FL

We have been to Marblehead for many years and we have missed the last few for various reasons and we have all missed it verrrrrrrrrry much. We really haven't ever done alot of visiting attraction before, but the kids are older now and we intend to do alot more this year. We have always just loved to come and relax and enjoy the views. I am already packing for our trip a month away. Can't wait. Kim W. - Roseville, Ohio

My son & I went to Put-n-Bay we had a blast driving the golf carts around the whole area seeing the beautiful estate homes & the awsome views of the bay, we also listened to great bands playing at the bars,& shopping at the great shops, and the food was excellant, plenty of picture taking all around. I will never forget the lighthouse and the feel of the sun on my back with friends and can't wait to return to the historic Marblehead! Mark W. ,

I went to the Kalahari during one day. It was very great. The number and the size of the slides are amazing. The wave pool was very funny and I had lot of fun playing basketball in the swimming pool. If you want to relax, I advise you to try the spa. It was so pleasant and relaxing. If you travel in Ohio I recommend you to go to Kalahari. Malo J. - Lyon,
